Sikkim quake damage at least Rs 1 lakh crore




Chamling on Wednesday said the state, badly devastated by the Sunday's earthquake, would require around 15 days to attain normalcy.

He estimated the loss in the state in monetary terms at around Rs 1 lakh crore. Roads were badly damaged, electricity and power supply affected, 2,000 buildings damaged and around 1 lakh houses developed cracks, the chief minister said.

While the catastrophe claimed 68 lives, around 300 others were injured and were being treated in different hospitals, Chamling said.
