After the beer and champagne had dried from the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse in Houston – after the Atlanta Braves had completed a collapse that gave the Cardinals the National League wild card – life around Busch Stadium on Thursday afternoon continued with renewed energy.
A scoreboard behind right field facing Broadway Street read, "NLDS 2011." Maintenance workers mopped concourses. Six grounds-crew members gathered on the dirt between second and third base to groom the infield.
